About James Sherk:
(updated August 2005)

History. . .
I originally hailed from Canada, but my family moved to Michigan when I was fourteen, where they still live. In July 2002 I naturalized and became an American citizen. I attended Hillsdale College for my undergraduate education, graduating in 2003 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics. In December 2005 I completed a Masters in economics at the University of Rochester. Eventually I aspire to work in domestic policy for either the government or for a think tank.

The Evangel Society:
I see the Evangel Society as a vehicle to preach Christ's love and spread Christian thought throughout our fallen and worldly culture. At the same time, I would like to be able to give Christians a deeper understanding of important economic and political issues that affect the world we live in. Many Christians, sincerely trying to follow Christ's commands, support policies that they believe will help the poor and less fortunate, but in fact do not. I see the Evangel Society serving an important role in teaching Christians who have not studied economics how the economy, often counter intuitively, works.

Of Interest :
I am definitely the political junky in the group. I am an ardent free market conservative, and I also take the most limited view of the proper Christian conception of the role of the state in society of any member of the Evangel Society. I am also an admirer of Tolkien and Lewis's works, and try to read a fair amount of military history. I root for the Detroit Red Wings, but don't care greatly for most other sports, besides Ultimate Frisbee and Disc golf.
